In order to guarantee the highest quality of our product, OBIforCORSET offers the opportunity of a bespoke journey to design your own corset. Working closely with the Designer through the whole process You will be guided from choosing your favourite Obi to the final fitting to create a unique piece based on your taste and your measurements.
We are dedicated to deliver every Corset with the finest traditional Couture process to create a unique piece of art. Driven by a commitment to creativity and reinvention, true craftsmanship is at the very core of our product.
The collections showcase seasonally, passionately motivated by the idea to bring the upcycling process in the Couture world, transforming vintage Japanese Obi into Corsets reinterpreting the female form into timeless silhouettes. Our dedication to quality means that there are more than 50 work hours behind the creation of every Corset.

INITIAL CONSULTATION
During the first consultation you will have the opportunity to meet the Designer for a one-to-one appointment in Maddox Street, in Mayfair, London.
You will have the possibility to see all the Obis from our archive and choose the one your prefer, based on your taste or perhaps inspired by the particular event you are going to attend. If your desired Obi is not available, it will be possible to source one especially for you from Japan.
BESPOKE FOR YOU
Once we find the special Obi to create your piece from, we can proceed with the next step of taking your measurements.
Measurements are at the base of the Made to Measure process to make sure to create a Corset that fits you perfectly.
Corsets are based on 13 fundamental measurements, which can be taken physically by us during our Initial Consultation or through a video call if you feel more comfortable taking them by yourself. This can be arranged based on your preference.
ONE OF A KIND PIECE
Since we are using vintage Obis, each of our Corset is a unique piece, made from un unrepeatable piece of silk woven fabric and cut differently every time, based on the creativity of the designer.
Therefore, every creation does not leave any space to any inaccuracy and before cutting the chosen Obi, the designer will work closely with the pattern cutter to make sure to create a perfect Corset according to your measurements.
PERSONAL MANNEQUIN
Following your personal measurements, our Atelier will create a mannequin based on your shape. Your Corset will be handcrafted and altered using this made-to-measure figure as a base.
TOILE CREATION
After the Obi is decided and your personal mannequin created, our pattern cutter will create the toile. A toile is essentially a prototype that is created of a garment to test the design. This Test-Corset made of thick cotton will be the chance to test the pattern, proportions, internal structure and placement of the panels before the garment is created out from the actual Obi. The toile stage may be skipped altogether to go straight into the final garment.
THE FINAL FITTING
After the toile fitting, the paper pattern will be refined with the alteration noted during the fitting and from the toile we can starting working on the final piece. After the Designer has carefully studied the placement of the panels onto the fabric, the Obi will be cut and sewn. Once the Corset is meticulously sewn from the smallest details to the more salient part to bring your thoughts onto the piece, you will be invited to the final fitting, where we will make sure the piece sits properly on your body and fits perfectly on you.
