Silver and Ivory Flying Cranes Fukuro Corset
£2510
Corset made from a silver and ivory Vintage Fukuro Obi. This Obi dates back to the middle of the Showa period (1926-1989) and represents a flight of white Cranes flying over an abstract silver and soft ivory background accented with a geometrical pattern.
All the Collection Corsets are size UK 8 (EU40).
However, the fit can be slightly different depending on the thickness of the specific Obi used.
The main measureaments in centimetres are:
Waist size 67 cm
Bust size 88 cm
High hip 84 cm.
Our corsets are made to gently squeeze the waist by 2 to 4 cm from the actual “relaxed” waist measurement. Our Collection Corsets are tailored for a “relaxed” waist size of 70 cm, but the corset will actually embrace your waist from 66 to 68 cm, thanks to an internal adjustable belt, which will help you to close the Corset at your comfortable measurement.
The Obi used for the main fabric of this Corset is a heavily embroidered brocade silk, carefully woven on both sides.
Obis can be made from any fabric strong enough to be pulled, but most of them, especially historic ones, are made from silk thread twisted together to create an unending variety of innumerable symbols, motifs and patterns. Some pieces may contain small imperfections, which is to be expected given the age of these fabrics. If there is a significant imperfection, it would be mentioned in the listing.
The Corset is finished with a soft lavender lining 100% silk.
Ancient Obis are really difficult to find, because they rarely survive as the strain from tying them weakens the fabric, making them more vulnerable to damage. Therefore, as in Japan, we should treat this truly delicate fabric with respect and care, in particularly avoiding any contact with water and other liquids, and we suggest to consult professional dry cleaners if required.

About this Corset
A Tale of Herons, Chrysanthemums, and Eternal Beauty
An Obi is a sash or a belt used to hold in place a kimono, a Japanese traditional dress.
This piece represents a flight of White Cranes (tsuru) soaring across a pale sky and warm hues, carefully embroidered with white threats. Delicate accents of shimmering silver threads are woven throughout, creating a luminous effect on the splendid fabric, evoking a sense of ethereal and timeless beauty.
Throughout Asia, it is considered a symbol of Happiness, Longevity, Eternal Youth and Good Fortune.
It is said that Cranes live for a thousand years, making them a profound emblem of Immortality and Endurance.
In Japan, it holds even deeper spiritual significance, being seen as a holy creature that connects the human and divine realms. Cranes are believed to bring Peace and Harmony, and their monogamous nature makes them a timeless symbol of Loyalty, Faithfulness and Everlasting Love.
Its elegant presence reminds us of Life’s Beauty and Grace.
